First, a comment on decolonizing therapy.
I acknowledge that the mental health field has a long history of oppressing the queer and trans community. I’m committed to decolonizing therapy practices and strive to minimize power dynamics in session by recognizing my clients as the experts in the room, rather than assuming that role myself. I prioritize open communication and view therapy as a collaborative endeavor. In my approach, I will help guide you toward your own insights, but it’s rare that I offer direct advice. I remain mindful of my own limitations and consistently work to confront my personal biases and assumptions.
Being trans is beautiful. Being queer is beautiful.
As someone who has benefitted significantly by having a safe space to discover my own identities, I’m incredibly passionate about using my abilities to offer similar support to others. I aim to go beyond offering competent care and describe my therapeutic style as both celebratory and nurturing of my clients’ unique identities.
I firmly believe in the invaluable contributions of queer and trans folks to our society and demonstrate unconditional positive regard in serving this community. I’m affirming of all relationship structures (e.g. polyamorous, ethically non-monogamous, monogamous, etc.) and am a kink-aware clinician.
What does working with an LGBTQ+ affirming therapist mean?
It's essential to acknowledge that a therapist who overlooks or lacks understanding of the complexities of the queer or trans experience is neglecting a significant aspect of their clients' identities. You should never feel burdened with the task of educating, over-explaining, or needing to defend your identities to be understood in therapy. Unfortunately, I know this is all too common for many LGBTQ+ individuals seeking therapy.
I believe in providing holistic treatment, where all aspects of your identities are valued and considered integral to our work together. My dedication to the queer and trans communities goes beyond simply saying “you belong here” or that I’ve made a “safe space” for you. I actively stay informed about ongoing issues impacting these communities and truly view it as an honor that my clients trust me as an ally and advocate in their personal journeys.

Frequently Asked Questions

LGBTQ-affirming therapy (or queer-affirming therapy) is a type of therapy where you don’t have to question whether you’ll be understood, respected, or accepted in your identities. It’s a space where your identity is supported without assumptions or judgement, and where you don’t have to spend your time over-explaining or educating your therapist just to be seen.
As a queer therapist, I bring both lived-experience and ongoing training in LGBTQ-affirming care. That means I’m thoughtful about identity exploration, internalized shame, relationships, and the social and political factors that can impact LGBTQ mental health.
We can explore things like coming out, gender identity, sexuality, relationship dynamics, or what it means to feel more like yourself. I also take your privacy very seriously and am intentional about documentation and confidentiality, especially in a time when many queer and trans folks have valid concerns about safety.
Online sessions are available for clients in Colorado and Illinois, including Denver, Boulder, and Chicago, providing a safe, flexible environment to have sessions and reflect on your experience.

Absolutely. I work with people who are questioning, exploring, or still figuring out their gender or sexuality, including asexual and aromantic identities. You definitely don’t have to have it all figured out to start therapy.
In sessions, we might explore what’s coming up for you, what feels exciting, what feels uncertain, or what might be holding you back from exploring your identity more fully. We can talk about how important labels feel (or don’t feel), and what it’s like to share or not share parts of your identity with others.
Therapy can also be a space to try things on, like different names, pronouns, or ways of expressing yourself in a low-pressure environment. I won’t push you in any direction or assume where you’ll land. My role is to support you in finding what feels true and authentic for you, at your own pace.
-
Yes. I provide queer couples therapy and relationship support for all types of partnerships, including monogamous, nonmonogamous, polyamorous relationships, and chosen family dynamics.
Sessions focus on communication, conflict resolution, boundary-setting, intimacy, and understanding relationship dynamics in a way that fits your unique relationship configuration. I take an affirming, nonjudgemental approach and believe there’s no “right” way to do relationships. We work with the structure, agreements, and values that feel authentic to you and your partner(s), helping you build connection and mutual understanding.
